Re: Short FL #5, P/C, Q.21

Hi! The reason why Fe(OH)2 is not included in the Ksp equation is because the passage says that it is poorly soluble. You are right that Ksp usually pertains to the dissociation of solids, but there are instances where gases and liquids are also relevant. Since Ksp only pertains to ionic compounds, ...

Re: Vehicular vs positive vs negative control

I think this Anki card is wrong since not touching sterilized spheres would theoretically result in a bacteria count of zero. In this situation, it would serve as the negative control, not the positive control

Re: Chemistry and Bio: Random Questions?

Hi! Hopefully this website can help clarify some of your questions about complementary colors. https://www.chem.purdue.edu/jmol/cchem/color.html I don't believe the lens of our eyes absorbs color since its primary role is to focus light onto our retinas Here is a website that further explains Raylei...

Re: Parabola vs Hyperbola shape

Most commonly, you will see a parabola opening up or down. A hyperbola usually opens to the left or right, like with the Michaelis Menten graph. These two shapes come from very different mathematical formulas, even though they may appear to be similar. Here's a website that explains further. https:/...

Re: Vehicular vs positive vs negative control

I think I might be getting confused about the experimental setup. Is the experiment measuring the amount of bacteria on the hands or on the spheres? What are they trying to test for? You're technically correct about the negative control, although most experiments would not do that since they want to...

CP4: I'm not sure what sort of shortcut there is, but I've attached a drawing of how to follow the extra methyl group through the different steps. BB6: If it was X-linked recessive, then the entire third generation on the left should have been affected, since their mother would have two copies of th...

Re: AAMC SB: B/B question 30 (discrete)

1. This is important because we know that for the F2 generation to contain brown beetles, the mating pair from F1 must both be Rr. Therefore, you need to work back from there in order to find the total probability. From the split of the F1 generation, we know that the original mating pair must have ...

Re: AAMC Section bank: B/B Question 17 discrete

1. This should just come with more time and with doing more practice problems. You can also practice writing out palindromic sequences yourself to familiarize yourself with them. 2. This is because Southern blots use restriction enzymes, which recognize palindromic sequences. Since the mutation is d...
