Diagnostic CP Q20

A student recently asked us about Diagnostic Chemical Processes Question 20: "If the chemical formula is SiO2, where do the 4 oxygens come from?" This is a great question! In a network solid, the silicon atom in silica forms four bonds to oxygen: two of these to the two oxygen atoms in silica, and t...

Review Book Example 23.1

A student recently asked about Example 23.1 in the PCAT Review Book: "How many grams of NaCl must be added to a pot filled with 1.0 kg of water to raise the boiling point by 1°C (Kb of water = 0.512°C/m)?" Answering this question requires the equation for boiling point elevation: ΔTb =iKbCm, where i...

PCAT for Canadian Pharmacy Schools

Re: Opinions on this score

Hi Sam_S, Good luck on your upcoming PCAT! Flashcards are a great idea, and another thing to consider is reviewing the results of your Full-Length exams, looking for content areas that you might want to brush up on before your test. If you can, it can help to take a true rest day the day before your...

Re: Math

Hi amahmood16, you are correct on both accounts. The quotient rule does indeed incorporate the difference, not the sum, of f'g and fg', and -18x = 3 does simplify to x = -1/6. The PCAT Review and Lesson Books have been recently updated with corrections, although these changes might not be reflected ...

Re: Opinions on this score

You can access your scores with percentile rankings by navigating to the Resources tab and then selecting the resource for which you received this score (for example, Full Length Exam 3, Attempt 1), and that will give you a complete score breakdown. If you have any trouble accessing your scores, ple...

Re: Opinions on this score

Hi Sam_S, that's a good question. First of all, congrats on your composite score! In general, your percentile rankings are better indicators than are your scaled scores, and the reason for this is that a 400 on one PCAT might be one percentile, and a 400 on another PCAT might be a completely differe...
