Amino Acid Mnemonics

What are your best amino acid mnemonics?! Any and all are helpful.

What I've found online:

PVT TIM HALL (pronounced private tim hall) - essential amino acids

GAVLIMP - nonpolar

STAGCyST - polar

His Lys Ar basic (pronounced his lies are basic) - basic amino acids

STs drink too! (pronounced saints drink too) - serine and threonine are OH groups

Hi k80j,

One that you can use to get even more specific with the non-polar amino acids:

VI(P) GAL ("she is a VIP GAL") - non-polar, aliphatic amino acids (Note that Proline doesn't neatly fit into aliphatic or aromatic categories. You usually see it listed with the aliphatic group, though.)

Good luck!

P.S. I love "his lies are basic" -- hadn't seen that one before!
