Post by crivz17 » Fri Mar 15, 2019 6:50 pm

Hi,
I'm struggling with understanding where in this formula they are getting the 3/2 from when they said that resistance increased by 50%. Please explain. thanks!

Thanks for the question!

So we start with: CO x VR = P, but then we want to find CO (at first and then in the second condition; new and old is the language they use).

CO = P / VR

We're told that the pressure doubles (2x) and the resistance increases by 50% (1.5x = 3/2x)

So, CO = 2P / 3/2VR

Simplifying that expression, 2/1.5 = 4/3, so the new CO will be 4/3 the old CO.

I hope this helps!
